Hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts are gearing up for this years “Bikers for Barkers” event scheduled to benefit the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society on Saturday, July 3.
“Heavy metal thunder” will once again resonate throughout Central Pennsylvania as the two-wheelers ride to raise funds for homeless animals.
In addition to the fun ride starting at the humane society shelter and ending at DelGrosso Park in Tipton, participants will be treated to music by local rock artist and “one-man-band” Steve Summerhill.
Those who register, the cost is $20, will get a free T-shirt, a DelGrosso barbecue chicken dinner and be eligible for cash prizes and door prizes. Additional dinners can be reserved ahead for $7 each.
CPHS officials suggest riders register early to expedite check-in procedures on the day of the event. Those who register by June 23 will be guaranteed a correct sized T-shirt for the ride.
The ride this year will take bikers through a relaxed country setting of beautiful Central Pennsylvania; into Huntingdon County, around Raystown Lake, over some winding mountain runs, through Sinking Valley and back to Tipton with suggested stops along the way.
Secure parking for riders will be provided at all locations. Check-in registration at the shelter location, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, runs from 10 a.m. until noon. The ride will be held rain or shine.
Last years event raised nearly $7,000 for CPHS and drew nearly 350 riders. For the latest details on this years ride, call CPHS Executive Director Dave Hopkins at 942-2477 or pick-up registration forms at area motorcycle dealers and shops in addition to the shelter.
Volunteers for the event are welcome. Call to sign-up.
All the funds raised at the event go towards helping the homeless animals at the shelter.
