A World War II, USO Canteen will be the next venue presented by the Tyrone Community Players.
The final offering in their 20th Anniversary season, GI Jukebox will be presented in dinner theater on August 13-14.
Auditions for this fast-paced, heavily song-ladened musical will be held on Sunday and Tuesday, June 13 and June 15 at 7 p.m. in the theater of the Tyrone YMCA.
The cast consists of two men and two women to sing the harmonies required to transport the audience back to the days of swing-time and boogie-woogie music. Anyone interested in auditioning should be prepared to perform a vocal number for their audition. An accompanist will be available both nights.
Questions about auditions can be asked of Kathy Fink, director for this production, by phoning 684-ART2 or Nancy Sloss at 684-5333.
It was often the case that USO companies would travel from town to town on the rails, stopping and performing wherever valiant soldiers and citizens needed their services. Join TCP in August as they recreate the mood of those times using music, movement and banter to bring the sounds of a generation back to life.
Sit back after a fine meal, watch and listen to the jumpin’ jive of such songs as \”Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy\” and \”Blue Moon,\” just to name a few.
During this week in particular, the anniversary of D-Day, TCP can think of no better tribute to the courage of a generation than to bring their music back to life. TCP is sure the audience will enjoy it.
