Moshannon Valley softball pitcher Lindsey Hamilton threw a no-hitter against the Bellwood-Antis Lady Blue Devils on Wednesday afternoon. Hamilton’s teammates broke out to a quick 8-0 lead before the B-A girls had a chance to bat in the game played at Bellwood, then continued on for a 15-0 win in five innings.
Heather Detwiler and Chelsea Kephart shared the pitching duties for the Lady Blue Devils. Detwiler struck out two and walked eight, while Kephart fanned two and walked four.
Bellwood-Antis committed five errors and walked a dozen that helped Moshannon Valley to score 15 times, even though the Damsels were able to get just five hits-four singles and a double. Eckberg hit the double for Moshannon Valley and Washell, Bachner and Leskovansky each drove in a pair of runs for the Damsels.
“The girls are showing they can compete when they settle down,” explained Bellwood-Antis coach Alex Sitman. “More experience will get rid of the one inning that seems to be really hurting us. The girls fought hard and never quit after that first inning, which says a lot for their desire and attitude.”
B-A travels to Glendale for a game on Monday with game time set for 4 p.m.
