At least one television network chose to move some of its programming last night to other nights rather than run them on a delayed basis because of President Bush’s press conference. For some Tyrone residents the move went unnoticed since they weren’t watching television at all.
In an at random sampling of area residents, The Daily Herald learned many of them weren’t home or didn’t have their TV sets on during the president’s one hour press conference at the White House. One resident who did not identify himself said he started watching but that quickly changed.
“I started watching it, but it was a lot of hogwash so I shut if off,” said the unidentified man as he exited the Burger King in Tyrone.
Another resident was more supportive of the president.
“I think he did very well,” said Bill Anderson of Tyrone.
“They seem to be blaming him for everything. It’s not right, I think they are doing it to benefit Kerry, they are trying to butter him up.
“How could Bush have prevented Sept. 11?” asked Anderson.
Many others said they weren’t even home or decided to keep their sets off while the president spoke on all the major networks and cable news outlets.
