Bellwood-Antis split their track and field meet with Hollidaysburg on Thursday at Bellwood.
The Blue Devil boys improved to 3-1 on the season with an 88-62 win over Hollidaysburg, while the Golden Tiger girls defeated the B-A girls 83-66 to even the Lady Blue Devils record at 2-2.
Matt Plummer led the B-A boys with three individual wins (110 and 300 hurdles and the discuss and anchored the victorious 3200 meter relay team that also included Brandon Pruznak, Corey Sweigert and Dan Kovac. Pruznak also won the 3200 run. Freshman Tyler Narehood won the shot put, Dan Houser won the 100 dash and anchored the winning 4300 relay team with Derrick Hoffer, John McFalls and Dustin Harris. Mike Thomas won the javelin. Rudy Bilka won the pole vault. Aaron bell won the 1600 and anchored the winning 3200 relay with Chris Edmiston, Corey Sweigert and Elliot Geist as the Blue Devils won all three relays.
“The kids had a tough week, running hard in both meets,” said boys coach Nick Lovrich. “Matt Plummer had a real good day, getting three firsts and also being on the 3200 relay. We got a lot of points with wins in all three relays. The key was the strength we showed in the field and distance events. They have really been strong for us, which is a reversal of past years, when they were weak and the sprints and jumps were where we scored most of our points. Tyler Narehood threw the shot two feet further than he did last week and is really coming on.”
The Lady Blue Devils also won all three relay races, but were able to win just three individual events against the Hollidaysburg girls.
Haley Crider, Lauren Carter, Erica Greene and Ashley Mueller won the 400 relay. Jenna Ralston, Carter, Lauren Leap and Allison Cherry won the 1600 relay. Ralston, Nicole Ross, Heather Shura and Cherry won the 3200 relay. In individual events, Leap won the 200 dash, Cherry took the 800 and Sarah Bell won the 3200 run.
