Norfolk Southern will be installing Automatic Constant Warning Time Devices at an at-grade crossing on state Route 4023 (Tipton Road) in Antis Township beginning today.
The high tech wiring devices will enable the crossing to detect trains moving at different speeds to activate the flashing lights and gates in a sufficient amount of time.
This system has proven to be safer than normal devices where trains travel at various speeds.
The work is expected to last about two weeks.
Motorists are advised to be alert for equipment and personnel while traveling through the area.
