Members of the Tyrone Area High School chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America attended the Region 14 Leadership Conference at the Huntingdon Campus of DuBois Business College on Friday, January 30.
FBLA advisor, Mrs. Sara Gardner accompanied the nine students who attended the conference.
According to Gardner, “The students competed in subjects within the business area with other students from schools in the region.”
Qualifying students from the regional leadership conference will then advance to state competition at Seven Springs in late March.
Besides competition, students were also in attendance at the business meetings and workshops conducted during the day at the conference.
Those students in attendance at the conference included: Abby Barony, Dannelle Burket, Ashley Gummo, Jeri Harper, Amber Hunter, Stevi Medina, Lea Morrissey, Jess Ott and Bridget Smith.
Five students placed at the conference, including: Burket, fifth place in business procedures; Hunter, third place in business calculations; Medina, first place in computer applications; Ott, third place, accounting I and Smith, first place, business calculations.
Four students qualified to advance to the state competition held at Seven Springs, including: Hunter, Medina, Ott and Smith.
Students who placed at the leadership conference were awarded with a certificate of recognition.
