Tyrone’s junior high boys basketball team jumped out to an 8 – 4 lead at the end of the first quarter, but went into halftime tied at 16 in a Saturday contest at Spring Cove.
In a defensive 3rd quarter, the Baby Eagles’ only score came at the buzzer when Steve Catich banked in a long 3 pointer bring the Eagles back to be down by one point (20 – 19) to start the final quarter.
But the fourth quarter proved disasterous, as Spring Cove scored 18 points in the quarter to the Eagles’ six to set the final score at 38 – 25.
Steve Catich led the Eagles in scoring with nine points, with Jamie Levinson adding in six.
The loss to Spring Cove breaks a three-game win streak for the Little Eagles.
Now with a record of 3 – 4, Tyrone entertains Huntingdon Monday afternoon at the High School gym.
Game time is 3:15 p.m. for the eighth grade game, with the ninth grade game to follow.
