The Tyrone Hospital Development Council has announced the results of its 3rd annual golf tournament to benefit Tyrone Hospital.
Randy Miles, Sr., chairman of the Tyrone Hospital Development Council said this year’s tournament was the council’s best in its short three year history.
“This event seems to get bigger and better every year.” said Miles. “It is both amazing and touching to see people support the community and Tyrone Hospital in this way.”
Miles said the tournament raised more than $21,000.
“All of this happens because of the hard work and dedication of the Development Council members and the generosity of many area businesses, community members, and members of the Tyrone Hospital family.”
Mr. Miles said all of the funds raised via the golf tournament will be used to pay for a new infant resuscitation bed.
Each year the Development Council identifies a piece of capital equipment needed by the hospital and conducts several fund raisers to help purchase that item. This year the Development Council is raising funds to purchase the new Infant Resuscitation bed for Tyrone Hospital’s obstetrics unit.
Each infant resuscitation bed costs more than $10,000. The infant resuscitation bed is specially equipped to provide the very first care a newborn receives. The bed is equipped with technology to provide routine care for non-problematic births as well as care that may be needed in infant emergency resuscitation situations.
Miles explained that the funds raised from the golf tournament should be more than adequate to cover the cost of one infant resuscitation bed.
“We have two other fund raisers coming up almost immediately,” he said. “There is
a book fair scheduled for October 13th and a Tree of Light campaign that runs from October through December.”
