The Tyrone girls volleyball hosted Bald Eagle Area on Wednesday evening.
Tyrone dropped three straight games to Bald Eagle Area, including close contests in the final two games of the match. 15-25, 21-25 and 21-25 to fall to 1-3 for the season.
Katie Whitby had 14 service points for the Lady Golden Eagles, including four aces. Jeri Harper added five diggs for the Tyrone girls and Ashley Roth had three kills.
“Even though we didn’t pick up the win, I was pleased with the girls’ performance,” said Tyrone coach Dave Eckberg. “We were competitive throughout the match, but mental mistakes and hitting errors did us in. I was pleased with our serving and passing, but we still struggled to get the combination of good pass, good set, good swing pressures the other team. Bald Eagle has a very solid team and should compete for the league title this season.”
Bald Eagle Area defeated the Tyrone girls junior varsity in two straight games.
The Lady Eagles travel south to Altoona twice next week, facing Bishop Guilfoyle at 3:15 p.m. on Monday, then meeting Altoona at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
