At Tuesday’s meeting Antis Township supervisors unanimously voted to hire Jeffrey Ziegler of State College as township manager.
Originally from Oil City, the 36 year-old Ziegler is scheduled to begin work as manager for the township on September 17 and will receive a salary of $40,000.
Ziegler’s background comes from the Centre Region Council of Governments where he was an administrative aide and worked on budgets and council work.
His educational background includes a bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, and Ziegler recently received a master’s degree in public administration from Penn State University.
Antis Township supervisors needed to fill the position of manager after the death of their first township manager who was hired in October of 2000, William Hughes.
Since the death of Hughes in 2002, the township conducted one round of applications and then another round of 30 applicants before narrowing the field down to choose Ziegler for the position.
In other township business:
• Craig Soyster gave a report on CDBG and the elevator project at the Bell Mansion;
• Ray Amato gave the road report for August along with the Antis Township Safety Committee minutes of August 15, 2003;
• the solicitor’s report included ordinance 7-2003, which is an ordinance authorizing Volunteer Fire Companies to charge for costs.
