With more than thirty performing members, the Altoona VFW Post 3 Band will truly bring that “big band sound” to Tyrone’s Reservoir Park on Sunday, August 3, beginning at 6 p.m.
Comprised of members of Post 30, this military band performs eight to 10 times each year and offers the area’s best in patriotic and military music. The membership contains an extensive musical legacy with many players being past members of the 28th Infantry Division Band and having served in military bands while in active duty.
Each performance by the band not only helps to inspire a sense of patriotism among the audience, but also serves as a tribute to the men and women serving in our armed services.
The Summer Sunday concert begins at 6 p.m. at the Reservoir Park amphitheater and is free of charge. Audience members should bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating.
The Summer Series is made possible by a grant from the PA Council on the Arts, a state agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and Tyrone Borough.
In the event of rain the concert will be held in St. Matthew Hall, Cameron Avenue and 12th Street.
