The Bellwood-Antis track and field teams traveled to Central for a tri-meet with Everett and host Central. The Blue Devils opened up on all cylinders with the B-A boys squad belting Everett 129-21 and Central 116-34 to improve to 3-0. The Lady Blue Devils (2-1) got into the victory column by thrashing Everett 99-53 and Central 118-32.
In the Central meet, Jesse Graham had a hand in four wins for the Blue Devil thinclads winning the 300 IM hurdles, discuss and javelin as well as joining teammates Matt Plummer, Kyle Shiffler and Cory Daly in the winning circle in the 1600 (4×400) relay.
Plummer took the 110 high hurdles in a B-A sweep and ran on the winning 1600 and 400 meter relay teams and Damien Miller ran on the relay 400 relay and won both the high jump and triple jump. Danny Houser won the 100 meter dash and long jump.
Against Everett, the Blue Devils showed their superiority in the field events to aid Bellwood-Antis to a big win. With Rudy Bilka winning the pole vault, Damien Miller both high jump and triple jump, Eric Brubaker the shot put and Jesse Graham taking the discuss and javelin, the Blue Devils won 19 of 21 possible places in the seven field events.
Aaron Bell won the 1600 and 3200 meter races and led off the winning 3200 relay team
“The kids performed well,” said Bellwood-Antis coach Nick Lovrich. “The weather conditions, especially the wind didn’t allow for good times, but I was satisfied with the performances, especially the younger kids who stepped up and won places.”
Bellwood-Antis showed their depth in both meets, sweeping five events against Central and placing two of three spots in four more. In the Everett matchup, six events were swept and the Blue Devils placed two in eight other individual events. B-A won all three relays in both meets.
The Lady Blue Devils jumped out to an early start with sweeps in the 100 meter hurdles and 100 meter dash with Ashley Meuller winning both events. Emily Worthing won the 300 IM hurdles and led off the victorious 400 meter relay. Andrea Genesi won the pole vault, Katie Gardner took the shot out and Allison Sinisi won the javelin.
Although the girls didn’t win the 1600, 800, 200, 3200 or high jump, the Lady Devils gave ground only grudgingly, capturing second and third places in each of those events.
Against host Central, Allison Cherry won both the 1600 and 3200 meter races, Andrea Genesi won the pole vault and long jump and Katie Gardner won both the shot put and discuss.
Lauren Carter led a sweep of the 400 meter dash. Emily Worthing won the 300 IM, Jenna Ralston won the 800, Erica Greene took the 200 meter dash, Stephanie Hatch won the high jump and Allison Sinisi won the javelin.
