The Daily Herald is embarking on another community project.
The special publication will feature hundreds of photographs from Tyrone’s past 136 years and will include memories that are sure to give every reader a glimpse of life in our hometown years ago.
“The Pictorial History of Tyrone” will be edited locally by our Daily Herald news staff and will feature an attractive cover. The Daily Herald staff is excited to announce work on this pictorial history beginning now. The finished product will be determined by the amount of photos that we receive and those from our archives.
In order for this project to be a complete success, we need your help!
We cannot organize this pictorial without our faithful readers sharing their cherished photographs of people, places, and things depicting Tyrone’s history from its earliest days. Go through your drawers and shoe boxes and find those perfect photo memories. A credit line will appear with each photo in the publication, identifying the person or organization who shared the memory with our readers. The photos will not be damaged in the printing process, and will be returned to the owners as soon as they are processed.
Press run of this pictorial history will be stuffed in one of our weekday editions and also available at our offices for a small fee. The decision was made to do this publication after the Herald made the move to our new offices. There were just to many great photographs to throw away.
Be part of Tyrone history with this special publication. Please bring your photographs to our office at 1067 Pennsylvania Ave., next to the Tyrone Post Office, to add to the edition , which is sure to bring back fond memories as it depicts the authentic history of our town.
