NOV. 18
The Men’s Three-on-Three League concluded with Joshua House knocking off Team # 5 in the finals of the playoffs in two straight games.
Joshua House opened up with a very tight 33-30 win in the opening contest. Jim Kilmartin pumped in 16 points to lead the winners, while Lance Grimes added seven points, Craig Hunter had six and Steve James chipped in with four points.
Kurt Melton led Team # 5 with 12 points, Jim Lightner had seven points, Mark Durubies added six points and Jim Koeller had five.
In the second game, it was all Joshua House 32-11 behind Kilmartin’s dozen, Hunter’s eight points and six each from Grimes and James.
Derubies scored eight for Team # 5 and Melton put in the other three.
Joshua House finished with a final record of 29-3, while Team # 5 ended the season at 22-10
Girls Basketball League
The Girls League played on both Saturday and Sunday last week.
NOV. 16
O’s Sew Shop pounded Elks 34-11 in the opening contest to improve their mark to 5-3 and drop Elks to a 1-7 record sharing the basement with Med-Center Pharmacy.
In a well-balanced scoring attack, O’s Sew Shop got 10 points from Laura Cherry, eight from Ashley Lechner, six points from Amy Lewis and four each from Crystal Waite and Kristen Ieraci. Bethany Mertiff fronted Elks with six points and Kasie Christine added four.
State Farm (6-2) stayed two games behind the leader with a 35-20 triumph over Med-Center Pharmacy. Rachel Emigh popped in 15 points and Stephanie Miller had 10 points. Paris Harden pumped in 14 points for Med-Center Pharmacy.
John Ramsey (8-0) retained their two game margin by edging VFW 22-19 in the lowest-scoring contest of the day.
Jenna Morgan scored 10 points to lead the winners and Kiley Dick chipped in with six points and Sammy Patterson added four. Liz Erickson led VFW (3-5) with a dozen points and Jena Caporusio scored five points.
NOV. 17
O’s Sew Shop (6-3) sewed up State Farm 34-25 to move into a second-place tie with State Farm (6-3). Laura Cherry led the scoring for O’s Sew Shop with a league-high 14 points and Ashley Lechner contributed 12 points in a two-prong attack. Rachel Emigh pumped in a baker’s dozen 13 points for State Farm, who had dropped both of their previous loses to league-leader John Ramsey. Stephanie Miller and Marah Mingle each had six points for State Farm.
VFW (4-5) held off Med-Center Pharmacy’s bid for their second win with a single-point 15-14 triumph to close to within a win of the .500 mark. Liz Erickson fronted VFW with seven points and Jenna Nevling scored four, while Leigha Stewart had six points for Med-Center Pharmacy and Paris Harden scored five.
John Ramsey (9-0) took advantage of the O’s Sew Shop win over State Farm to open up a three game lead over the two second place squads. John Ramsey defeated Elks 38-16 with seven different players getting into the scoring column. Kara Boyd led the way for John Ramsey with 10 points, Jenna Morgan and Sammy Patterson scored eight each, Kiley Dick contributed six and Maura Belinda, Gerika Saulen and Chelsey Hook each scored a bucket. Arianne Miller, Kasie Christine and Bethany Mertiff all scored four points for Elks (1-8).
