The Tyrone golf team hosted a match with Bellwood-Antis and Bishop Guilfoyle at the Sinking Valley Country Club on Thursday.
Fresh from winning the Central Pennsylvania High School Golf Association Coaches Invitational on Monday, the Golden Eagles improved their overall record to 9-3 and their CPHSGA mark to 9-2 by trimming Bishop Guilfoyle 318-335 and neighboring Bellwood-Antis, who shares the Sinking Valley Country Club as their home course 318-411.
Jimmy Gillam fired 38-40 to earn top honors for Tyrone with an 18-hole card of 78. Teammates Thad Westley (34-450 79, Matt Germino (40-40) 80 and Brandon Hribik (39-42) 81 were right behind. Although only the top four golfers scores count, Derrick Soellner was just off the pace with an (40-42) 82, which was better than all but one non-Eagle golfer on the course.
Chris Skibo had the lowest score for Bellwood-Antis with a (43-51) 94.
Tom Haught of BG was the medalist with 37-40 for an 18-hole total of 77.
Juniata Valley had one golfer in the meet. Tony Price posted nines of 44-49 for a 93 on his card.
Ahead on the Tyrone and Bellwood-Antis schedules are Sectionals on Monday, Oct. 7, at The Elks Country Club in State College, the CPHSGA League Championship at the Scotch Valley Country Club at Hollidaysburg on Wednesday Oct. 9 then Districts at the Toftrees Country Club in State College on Monday, Oct. 14.
