On November 3, two sixth grade social studies classes held presidential debates at the Tyrone Middle School. Students spent a month reviewing political advertising, researching candidate stances on a variety of issues, and writing a debate speech. Each student’s debate speech addressed one issue such as foreign policy, education, taxes, the economy, rights of Americans, health care, and the candidate’s experience. All students participated in a mock election held on November 4. Pictured are the students from Mr. Stoner’s fourth and fifth period social studies classes on the day of the debate. (Courtesy photo)
