Get out your coloring utensils because it’s time to learn how to be a cartoonist.
This Tuesday, July 1, the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library will be hosting “Cartooning with Cory,” a cartooning program for children presented by Cory Geishauser (also known as Steamer, the Mascot of the Altoona Curve).
The session is only an hour long, but it is guaranteed to be a great time! This is a one time offer where kids can meet up with Geishauser (Steamer) and get a chance to explore their artistic abilities.
Geishauser will teach those who attend how to draw different types of cartoons and what techniques may be used to accomplish certain details. Cartoonists are known for their quick ability to draw pictures and to have the pictures move around page to page.
Although the cartoon industry has evolved dramatically, most cartoonists still use the sketch pad and draw up their favorite characters. But now, those characters are then are placed into the computer where it takes over all of the motions.

He plans to visit every library in Blair County through the summer to show off some of his skills in the cartooning industry.
Everyone is invited to test out their cartoonist skills. Children of all ages may attend and should bring coloring utensils.
Also, there is a Create-a-Bug T-shirt night tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the library. Kids of all ages may bring an old shirt and will be able to decorate their shirts with various insects.
Come down to the Tyrone Library for these exciting events on Friday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. and Tuesday, July 1 at 6:30 p.m. for a portion of the events that are going to take place there. Don’t miss out on all the fun at the Tyrone Area Library.
