Mr. Wilmer G. “Mac” McManigal, age 75, of 543 W. 21st Street, Tyrone, died Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 6:05 p.m. at his residence. He was born October 15, 1932 in Three Springs, Huntingdon County and was twice married, first to Evelyn Ranck who died July 2, 1998 and secondly on March 31, 2000 to Emogene Kerlin Johnson who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters: Sharon L. (Rick) Grissinger, Three Springs; Karen Ann (O. Jay) Heaster, Mount Union and Angela R. (Roger) Evans, Tyrone and two sons: Brian G. (Jerilyn) McManigal, Tyrone and Brent A. (Bernadette) McManigal, Cherry Tree.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and several step-children. Also surviving are four brothers: George (Kay) McManigal, Harrisburg; Sherman (Ruth Ann) McManigal, Pedricktown, NJ; Robert (Phylliss) McManigal, Lancaster and Bernard McManigal, Lancaster and six sisters: Betty (Harold) Bennett, Fayetteville; Sarah Evans, Lancaster; Joann Giles, Huntingdon; Nellie (Robert) Meister, Port Orange, FL; Janet Smalley, Yucipia, CA and Helen (Bob) Maskulyk, Mount Union.
Three brothers and one sister, Donald, Kenneth, Johnny and Thressa Williams, preceded him in death.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where he served as an usher. He was a veteran of service with the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of Howard Gardner Post No. 281 American Legion, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the Blue Juniata Veterans Home Association of Mount Union, B.P.O.E. No. 212 of Tyrone, the United States Bowling Congress, a lifetime member of the National Bass Chapter Federation Inc.
He was an avid fisherman and bowler and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Mr. McManigal was the founder and retired owner of Mac’s Market on Columbia Avenue which he founded in 1974 and from which he retired in 1997. He was a graduate of Orbisonia High School.
Funeral services for Wilmer G. “Mac” McManigal will be held Monday, June 30, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church with Reverend Bernard Bookhammer officiating.
Private interment will be made at the convenience of the family in Eastlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
