Chester H. “Chet” Collier, 80 of Bellwood died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, June 26, 2008 at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Emergency Department.
He was born in Antis Township on July 2, 1927, a son of the late Chester E. and Grace L. (Yohn) Collier.
He married GeorgeAnna Cramer on October 16, 1950 in Winchester, VA. She died September 3, 2003.
Surviving are a daughter: Karen E. Gibbons and husband, Kenneth of Bellwood; sons: Michael B and C. Timothy and wife, Kari all of Bellwood; grandchildren:
Sharon A. and David M. Gibbons, Danielle G., Timmy B. and Karissa N. Collier; a brother: H. James Collier of Grazierville; and sister: Nancy McCahan of Tipton.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Allen.
Chet retired in 1992 as daylight supervisor at WestVaco, Tyrone with forty three years and eleven months of service.
He was a Navy veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood.
Chet was a life member of the John M. Anderson American Legion, Bellwood.
He enjoyed fishing in Canada, hunting and vegetable gardening.
He was especially proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
Chet was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 29, 2008 and from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, June 30 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2008 at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Robert Ludrowsky officiating.
Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
