Mr. Edward L. Mulhollan, age 86, of RD 3, Tyrone died Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 9:20 p.m. at the James E. VanZandt Veterans Administration Hospital, Altoona. He was born September 4, 1921 in Moshannon, Clearfield County, the son of Ernest M. and Verna Lewis Mulhollan. On August 26, 1944 in Marion, South Carolina he was married to Ferroll A. Fassinger who survives. Also surviving are three children – Anita (Jeff) Wray, Bald Eagle, Dennis P. Mulhollan, McVeytown, and Alice M. Mulhollan, Bald Eagle; four grandchildren – Josh, Jason, and Jenna Wray and Timothy Lukas; and two great-grandchildren – Savannah and Collin. Also surviving is a special nephew David Mulhollan of Etters, PA and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother David and dear friends Merle and Libby Schmidt.
Mr. Mulhollan was a veteran of service with the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been employed for 37 years as a machine operator at Chicago Rivet and Machine Company, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Bald Eagle United Methodist Church where he had been very active, serving as a Lay Speaker, a Sunday School teacher, and a youth leader. He had served on the Administrative Council, had served on and been chairman of the Trustees, and for many years had been head usher. He had been a Boy Scout leader for many years, had been a member of the Gardner Guards and was a member of Howard Gardner Post No. 281 American Legion.
Ed was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and was very pleased that he had the opportunity to visit County Clare, the home are of his ancestors.
Funeral service for Edward L. Mulhollan will be Monday, July 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Bald Eagle United Methodist Church with Pastor Peggy Bonsell officiating. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
