Anna Marie Nowins, 72, of Chicago, Illinois formerly of Tyrone died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Altoona Regional Health System – Altoona Hospital Campus.
She was born April 2, 1936 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Futrick) Matesic. In 1978 in Chicago she married Michael J. Nowins. He died February 13, 2007.
Surviving are two sisters, Joan Everhart and husband James of Tyrone, Diana Bakosh and husband Edward of West Mifflin, three nieces, Amy Everhart Parker, Sandra Sherlock, Darlene Brindle and three nephews James Everhart Jr., Stephen Everhart and Edward Bakosh Jr. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and a brother John.
Mrs. Nowins has been employed for the past 35 years in the accounting and billing department for the Rider Dickerson Printing Company, Chicago. She was of the Catholic faith and a 1955 graduate of Tyrone High School.
Anna loved her cats and gardening.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph T. Orr, celebrant. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. where wake services will be held at 8:30 p.m.

His Wings Aviation Ministries is a non-profit organization that uses aviation as a service ministry by providing air transportation to those who cannot afford or tolerate public transportation for health reasons. His Wings Aviation brought Anna home to her family in Tyrone on June 14, 2008. For this we will be forever grateful.
