Ren Stoner, 78 of Ginter, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008 at 11:24 p.m. at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Mr. Stoner was born in Highspire, PA on August 16, 1929, the son of the late Harry R. and Catherine (Raessler) Stoner.
He was a 1949 graduate of the Hollidaysburg High School and serviced in the Naval Reserve. Mr. Stoner worked as a Brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad and the E.G. and E Railroad in Indiana. He managed the advertising and promotions for Sealtest Dairy in Altoona. He owned and operated Fiesta Dairy Store in Tyrone for 12 years and later owned the Coachlite Restaurant in Tyrone for 18 years. He was a salesman for H and S Repair Shop John Deer dealership in Philipsburg.
Mr. Stoner was a member and past President of the Houtzdale Lion’s Club, past Treasurer of the Mountz Memorial Park, Smithmill, and a past President of the Tyrone Kiwanis Club.
He was twice married, first to Patricia Burns, of Tyrone, on October 15, 1950 and then to Marie Lovell Hamilton on October 8, 1988.
Along with his wife Marie, of Ginter, he is survived by the following children; Cindy Bennett-Hedberg and her husband Thomas of Sinking Valley, Steven Stoner and his wife Christine of Tyrone, Joy Ealy and her husband Larry of Greenville, step-son Ron Hamilton and his wife Diane and step-daughter Cindy Flango and her husband Ed, all of Philipsburg.
He is also survived by five grandchildren, Tobi Munshower and her husband Les, Eric Bennett and his wife Patti, Amanda Ealy, Thomas Hedberg, Jr., Michael Stoner and Kodl Stoner. Nine step-grandchildren, Craig Flango, Kristi Flango, Russell Hamilton and his wife Nancy, Melissa Frank and her husband Guy, Barbara Johns and her husband David, Jeremiah Hamilton, Benjamin Hamilton, Rebecca Hamilton and Brittany Hamilton. Four great grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren.
Two sisters also survive, Doris Mentzer and Joanne “Dappy” Stoner both of Hollidaysburg, PA. Mr. Stoner was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Mountz Memorial Park, Smithmill, PA. Family request memorial donations be made to the Houtzdale Lion’s Club P.O. Box 176 Ramey, PA 16661.
