A team that falls behind early in Indian Valley will most likely never pull out a win. The famous home-court advantage the Warriors have has demolished teams mentally and physically. It is one of the toughest places to play and Tyrone found out, Tuesday night.
The Eagles came in off a rough loss to Bishop Guilfoyle at home, but needed a big win at Indian Valley. The 7-9 Eagles have a slight shot at the playoffs. Winning means everything for Tyrone right now.
It was an ugly start for Tyrone, going down early, 17-10 in the first quarter. Tyrone would not make much more of a run, as the second quarter just got worse. Trailing by just seven points going into the second quarter, the Warriors poured on a 26-9 quarter to give them a 43-19 lead at the break. The struggle continues on offense to put up points for Tyrone, but the defense has also had some trouble over the passed few games.
With a 24-point lead, the Warriors held out and went on to win 65-42 in a merciless home win.
“We just couldn\’t get any rebounds and they beat us up and down the floor,” Gripp said. “We have to do the little things right and we\’re just not getting that done.”
Tyrone falls to 7-10, despite getting another 15 points out of Steve Catich. Catich has led Tyrone in scoring all season and has eclipsed the 300-point mark, Tuesday night with the 15 points.
Indian Valley\’s top dogs, Matt Tundell and Austin Long combined for 32 points and kept their team on top for the entire game. They were stealing passes and blocking shots throughout the game, setting up the fast break and helping the Warriors score at will.
