A Snyder Township woman was killed early Saturday when she was run over by a car she had just exited.
Prior to being struck, state police said 44-year-old Anna Theresa Walk was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Dennis Jay Miller of RD 3, Tyrone.
Miller was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol at 1:20 a.m. along Decker Hollow Road. State police said Miller and Walk were involved in an argument. They said Miller abruptly stopped the vehicle broadside in the middle of the road. Walk then got out of the vehicle and began to walk away.
At some point, Miller put the vehicle into reverse and drove the car backward and swerved toward Walk. She was hit by the vehicle and run over by it.
Miller was arrested and was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Ken Garman on charges of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, DUI and other related offenses. He was lodged in the Blair County Prison. District Judge Garman said no bail was set due to “the nature of the charges.”
A preliminary hearing for Miller is scheduled for tomorrow at 9 a.m. before District Judge Fred Miller.
Walk worked as a desktop publisher at Josten’s of State College. She was a 1979 graduate of Tyrone Area High School.
She is survived by her father, Samuel Kimberling, a daughter, a brother and five sisters. Her mother, Thelma Kimberling passed away earlier this month.
