Donald E. Bond, 87, of Pa. Furnace, formerly of Crystal River, Fl. died February 21, 2005 at Altoona Hospital.
He was born February 9, 1918 in Carrollton, Oh., the son of the late Harry and Nellie (Page) Bond.
He married Martha (Johnson) Bond who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Johnny P. Bond and wife Francine, Elwood City, Pa.; one daughter, Moira DeArmit and husband Oscar of Pa. Furnace; grandchildren, LuAnn DeArmit, Johnny II, Christopher, Casey Fry and husband Andy in Atlanta, Erica Bond of Florida, Dominique Newman and husband Fabian of Chicago and two great-grandchildren, Jadyn and Caleb.
Mr. Bond was a member of the State College Christian Church. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He served in the US Air Force. He was a member of the 75th troop carrier squadron, earning numerous citations.
He was a member of American Legion Post 121, Chester W.V., VFW and Kiwanis.
In 1980 he retired from Columbia Gas after 40 years of service.
Memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home, Warriors Mark.
