Bonnie Colpetzer is the recipient of Tyrone Hospital’s Extra Mile Employee Award. Tyrone Hospital grants the award on a quarterly basis to an employee who demonstrates exceptional performance.
Mrs. Colpetzer said she was very surprised to hear she won the Extra Mile Employee Award. She joined Tyrone Hospital in 2002 and is employed as an occasional dietary aide. Her work responsibilities include preparing patient trays, setting up for special functions, cooking as needed, and other tasks as assigned. Her status as an “occasional” employee means she reports to work as needed. She is called in when extra help is needed during especially busy times or when there are special functions.
Sometimes it is to cover for vacations or when someone may be out sick. She has earned an admirable reputation among fellow employees for her availability and reliability, which often times is on very short notice.
“Tyrone Hospital is a very nice place to work. I wish I had applied for employment here a long time ago,” said Mrs. Colpetzer. “The ladies I work with are such a good group and they were especially helpful to me during my training and orientation period.”
Mrs. Colpetzer resides in Warriors Mark with her husband Ray. They are very proud and devoted to their family. They have four grown children – three daughters and a son, and three granddaughters and three grandsons.
“The Extra Mile Employee Award is special because it is driven by hospital employees,” said Walter Van Dyke, interim chief executive officer at Tyrone Hospital. “It is an honor to recognize employees like Mrs. Colpetzer who have been singled out by their co-workers and recognized for exceptional performance.”
Recipients of the Extra Mile Employee Award receive a commemorative plaque, an extra paid personal holiday, and a letter of commendation for the hospital’s chief executive officer.
