The Tyrone tennis team traveled to Altoona on Tuesday to battle Bishop Guilfoyle.
BG jumped out early and controlled the matches to take a 6-1 win to hand the Lady Eagles their fifth loss in six matches.
Bishop Guilfoyle won all five of the singles matches to quickly salt away the win, before Tyrone’s number one doubles duo of Hilary McNelis and Missy Stager remained undefeated with a come-from-behind 8-6 proset victory.
“We were kind of overwhelmed us quickly,” said Tyrone tennis coach Charles Fitzgerald. “We were badly behind before we even knew what was happening. In a thrilling match, featuring two doubles teams, McNelis and Stager came from 4-1 down to win 8-6. It was an outstanding display!”
The Lady Eagles tennis team hosts Hollidaysburg on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Tyrone tennis courts.
