The Bellwood-Antis girls volleyball team maintained their perfect early season record on Tuesday winning a five-game match with Moshannon Valley at Bellwood.
After splitting the first four games, the Lady Blue Devils prevailed in the final game 15-11 to remain undefeated. Moshannon Valley defeated the hosts in the first game 25-22, before Bellwood-Antis came back to take the next two 25-18, 25-21. Facing a possible loss, the Lady Damsels battled back to win game four 25-19 and force the fifth game.
Lindsay Dearing led the Lady Blue Devils with 16 service points and 36 assists. Elyse Schreckengost had 14 points and 21 digs. Stephanie Hatch added nine service points, eight blocks and 15 kills. Lauren Carter contributed seven points and 11 kills.
“I was very pleased with the way the girls dug in and played hard in all 5 matches,” said Bellwood-Antis coach Jennel Miller. “They were able to respond to Mo Valley’s attack with strong defense and a smart offense. Mo Valley is a very talented team, so this was a big win for us.”
The Lady Blue Devil junior varsity also ran their record to 3-0 with a victory over Moshannon Valley in two straight games, 25-8, 26-24. Haley Crider led with 10 service points, including five aces and Meredith Palmer had four kills.
The B-A volleyball team hosts Glendale on Thursday with the Jayvees set for a 6 p.m. start with the varsity to follow.
