The Tyrone girls junior high basketball team hosted the Philipsburg-Osceola junior high girls on Thursday.
The Lady Eagles defeated P-o 43-25 to improve their mark to 4-8.
Sharon Long fronted the Lady Eagles winning effort with 21 points and added seven rebounds. Stefani Bryan added a monster performance with eight points, seven rebounds and seven steals.
“When we played P-O the first time,” said Tyrone junior high coach Kerry Naylor, “I thought, we will get this team when we play them again. Our girls are improving every game. The first time we faced them, they killed us with their half-court press, this time we blew through it like it wasn’t there.”
In the seventh/eighth grade game, the Tyrone girls won 14-3.
Stefani bryan contributed six points, six rebounds and three steals and Lindsey Christine and Sara Cox each had six rebounds.
“The seventh and eighth grade girls got a day off practice on Wednesday,” said Naylor, “because the school hosted a Bloodmobile in the gym. The girls seemed mentally fresh and physically ready to go. Sometimes what seems like a negative turns out to be a break for you. Both our teams continue to play hard. A lot of the success we have had is due to hard work. If you do that, once you figure out the game, with the talent this team has, success follows.”
