The Tyrone Girls volleyball team dominated a young inexperienced Juniata Valley squad on Wednesday at Alexandria.
The Tyrone Lady Eagles improved their record to 7-1 with a two to zero advantage in games, winning 15-3, 15-0.
Ashley Roth had eight service points, Amber DelBaggio dealt out 10 assists and Emily Lloyd had two kills.
The Tyrone junior varsity squad also won in two straight to post their third win since the girls got their new jerseys. Behind 10 service points by Katie Whitby, the Lady Eagle Jayvees defeated Juniata Valley Lady jayvees 15-0, 15-5.
“Juniata Valley is a very young team,” explained Tyrone coach Dave Eckberg. “I just wanted to make sure that we served the ball well. We did a pretty good job with that. I was glad to get a couple of the younger kids some varsity playing time. It’s nice to have the opportunity to see how they will do at the varsity level where the tempo of the game is faster. The girls did a nice job. We now have to focus on Mount Union.”
The Tyrone girls volleyball team is in action tonight at Mount Union for the third match in as many nights. Match time is 6 p.m.
