The Tyrone junior high girls basketball team improved its record to 2-1 yesterday, rallying from a six-point halftime deficit to defeat Bald Eagle Area 29-26 at the Tyrone Area High School gymnasium.
The Lady Eagles trailed BEA 13-7 at intermission but outscored the visitors 13-6 in the third quarter to take a 20-19 lead. Tyrone’s lead grew to as many as seven in the fourth quarter before BEA rallied to pull within two with just over a minute remaining.
Kayla Corle led Tyrone with 12 points, including nine in the third quarter. Carlee Roth led Tyrone on the glass with 10 rebounds, while Katie Walker added six. Tiffany Bradford scored six points, pulled down four boards and had two assists.
The Tyrone 7th and 8th grade team dropped its first game of the season, falling to BEA 13-8. Stefani Bryan scored all of Tyrone’s points, and also pulled down six rebounds.
Tyrone’s 7th and 8th graders fell to 1-1-1.
Tyrone plays Philipsburg-Osceola on the road Tuesday night beginning at 6 p.m.
