The Tyrone girls tennis team traveled to Altoona on Wednesday for their return engagement with the Lady Lions in MAC competition.
Altoona captured all five singles matches to lock up the 5-2 victory, before Tyrone rallied to post wins in both doubles matches. Altoona remains undefeated at 7-0, while Tyrone falls to 1-6.
The number one doubles team of Hilary McNelis and Missy Stager defeated their opponents 8-0 in a proset, then number two duo Emily Fitzgerald and Beth Nelson knocked off their foes 8-2.
“When you take a game off Altoona in proset, you are doing well,” explained Tyrone tennis coach Charles Fitzgerald. “We are really enjoying our new courts. Beth Nelson and Becky Swann played really well today.”
