The Tyrone Area Junior High School Girls basketball team dropped a 36-23 game to Huntingdon on Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Eagle ninth graders were led by Tiffany Bradford with five points and Stefani Bryan had six points and eight rebounds and Katie Glace added eight rebounds as well.
The Lady Eagles were hurt by a poor effort at the foul line going just 10 for 25, while in a game with lots of fouls, Huntingdon was a much better 16 for 21.
“It has been the same story all season long,” said Tyrone coach Kerry Naylor. “We have trouble getting started and into a feel for the game. In the second half, we came out and really took it to them. Our foul-shooting really hurt us, but we were able to get inside and penetrate on them after a very slow first half for us.”
The seventh/eighth grade girls defeated Huntingdon 19-8 behind nine points for Stefani Bryan and eight for Elizabeth Tepsic.
“The seventh and eighth graders were only 1-2 this week,” said Naylor, “but lost two-point decisions to a tough Keith team and Penns Valley who are 9-1 so far. I was happy to see then bounce back and play super basketball.”
