The girls high school District Six Class-AA began on Thursday for two Tyrone girls.
Hilary McNelis and Missy Stager competed at the Leopold courts in Altoona.
McNelis dropped a three-set natch to Jenna Shuck of Huntingdon 5-7, 6-2, 3-6, while Stager fell to Anne Borya of Homer Center, also in three games, 5-7, 6-4, 1-6.
Doubles action begins on Oct. 10 for the Tyrone combos of McNelis/ Stager and Beth Nelson/Emily Fitzgerald.
